Not a Clichy
Today wS the turn of la Biggarade to host two travellers from New Zealand on their culinary journey. After a tour of the place Clichy to get our bearings we arrived at La Biggarade in Rue Nollet. The room was small and we took our table in the middle. We chose an eight taste menu and Richard chose accompanying wines.

Rotisseries and Floating Islands
We arrived in Paris on Sunday afternoon. It was freezing and we had to wrap up as we walked around the Marais. It is raining now and the sky is grey.
Earlier we had checked out of our hotel in London and bumped into Jacqs at St Pancras Station as we were leaving. She seemed in greAt form and had just arrived off the plane from Chicago.
The Eurostar trip was soo fast. We were across the Channel in no time and speeding towards Paris. The only difficulty being the retired English Canal Trip aficionados who were very keen to update us on their 5 star holiday and on board a canal boat in the Loire.
Our hotel in Paris couldn't be in a better location. Right by the Notre Dame. We walked up the narrow staircase to a large room with a glimpse of the cathedral across a rooftop. No doubt that would cost another five Euros from these savvy operators. Dinner was at la rotisserie de Beaujolais, coq au vin and a half rotisserie with some good White Macon and a carafe of Beaujolais. The highlight was the ile flottante, an enormous blob of egg whites sitting in a puddle of runny custard. A humorous pudding that we may have to try again to compare styles.

A floating Island in a Sea of Custard
Our life had become like this - it was time to take a trip overseas to remind ourselves
that life was more than DIY, the price of cheese and American Idol on a Friday night.
France beckoned. The land of the croissant, unpasteurised cheese and quirky male
dress sense.
